Our client in Northeast Iowa has become a leader in the metal fabricating industry nationwide. They are seeking to hire a bookkeeper to support their growth.
SUMMARY: The Bookkeeper will manage the day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and accuracy will be expected as well as the ability to develop good customer and vendor relationships.
You must show the ability to communicate clearly with internal management, and the external partners. You also need to have a high level of proficiency in QuickBooks and a desire to expand that knowledge and share it with others in the office.
This position requires you to be a skilled multi-tasker.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accounts Receivable
- Enter new customers in QB and determine sales tax liability/exempt
- Invoice customers per terms using “Sales Orders” and email to the correct A/P person or department
- Monitor open balances and make collection calls if terms are not met
- Deposit incoming checks on E-deposit machine and in QB. Make sure the check number is posted and credited to the correct job. Print report of deposit and file
- Email statements monthly
- Reconcile accounts
- Develop customer relationship (Especially with AP for each customer)
- Other duties as assigned
- Accounts Payable
- Monitor accounts payable email. Print all electronic invoices and place in uncompleted invoice file. Do the same when you receive the mail from the postman
- Match invoices with purchase orders once you receive them from Purchasing, enter them into QB (This will generate an invoice to be paid
- File invoices by “Week” to be paid in cabinet
- Enter new vendors in QB and request W9 form
- Enter all other expenses in QB
- Prepare the weekly check run. Separate the ACH payments and actual printed check payments
- Develop vendor relationship (Especially with credit manager for vendor)
- Prepare and pay all Sales Tax and Use tax due monthly and quarterly
- Other duties as assigned
- Cash Management
- Complete Cash Management Report (CMR) every Monday morning
- Identify cash short-falls or excess amounts
- Reconcile bank statement and verify to QB
- Other duties as assigned
- Job Costing
- Verify all Expenses (labor & materials) for each job
- Assist with WIP to determine % of margin to take for each job
- Report to Sales, PM, Production
- Assist with inventory control, min/max amounts
- Take and report physical inventories monthly/quarterly/yearly
- Other duties as assigned
- Financial Statements/Budgets
- Prepare monthly Profit loss and Balance Sheet
- Prepare budgets
- Compare budget vs actual and analyze for differences
- Prepare year end and forward to the company's accounting firm to complete tax return
- Other duties as assigned

WAGE: The remuneration will be based on your experience and depth of such experience
